Commonwealth has come a long way from our humble beginnings operating out of one small warehouse to managing entire warehouses for Fortune 500 companies in multiple states. Read below to learn a little about our company.
On November 1st Brian W. Collins founds Commonwealth. The company begins its life with just two employees operating out of a 25,000 SF warehouse in Tri-County, a suburb of Cincinnati, Ohio.
1990
Commonwealth expands to 151,000 SF in three warehouses around the Cincinnati area.
1991
Commonwealth moves to its present headquarters occupying 200,000 SF and employing 40 people.
Commonwealth is recognized by Inc. 500 magazine as the 236th fastest growing company in the nation.
The Cincinnati Business Courier and Ernst & Young award Commonwealth the Crescendo award given to the 50 fastest growing companies in the region.
1992
Commonwealth expands to Greenville, NC, by opening a contract warehouse to service Procter & Gamble. Commonwealth would continue to operate this warehouse for two years.
Commonwealth is again recognized by Inc. 500 as the 344th fastest growing company in the nation.
The Cincinnati Business Courier and Ernst & Young again award Commonwealth the Crescendo award given to the 50 fastest growing companies in the region.
1993
Commonwealth opens a 50,000 SF warehouse in Florence, KY to service a catalogue fulfillment client.
Growth continues, pushing Commonwealth to over 510,000 SF in three states: OH, KY, and NC.
The NKY Chamber of Commerce presents Commonwealth with the Positioned for Success award.
1997
Commonwealth opens a 45,000 SF contract warehouse in Oxnard, CA, to service Procter & Gamble.
1998
Commonwealth expands its Oxnard presence by opening another contract warehouse to service the Pepsi-Cola Company, initially occupying 122,000 SF.
Within the first year of operation, Commonwealth quickly turns the 14th ranked Pepsi outside vendor warehouse into their #1 rated warehouse in the nation. Our warehousing operation maintained the #1 ranking until its closing in 2009.
1999
Commonwealth takes over operation of a dysfunctional warehouse for Procter & Gamble in Cincinnati, OH. The 103,000 SF warehouse had significant shortcomings in pest control and inventory management. Commonwealth quickly remedied these issues earningthe prestigious Pinnacle award given by Procter & Gamble to the facility which executes the best turnaround in overall performance.
Commonwealth returns to Kentucky to start-up the 200,000 SF Qualis Automotive warehouse in Hebron for a four-year contract warehousing operation. By the end of this four year contract the warehouse was fully operational, profitable, and the transition was completed seamlessly.
Upon request from a valued customer, Commonwealth opens a 25,000 SF warehouse in Marietta, GA. Commonwealth would continue to operate this facility through 2008.
2004
Commonwealth earns a 100% Quality Assurance Key Elements (QAKE) award from Procter & Gamble for overall excellence, one of two given out worldwide.
2005
The Second Generation begins at Commonwealth. Brent L. Collins joins the company as the Sales & Marketing manager after working on Capitol Hill in the United States Senate, Washington, D.C.
2006
Commonwealth earns an unprecedented back-to-back 100% QAC award for overall excellence from Procter & Gamble. No other warehousing company had ever attained this achievement at the time.
2007
Commonwealth acquires a nearby rail-served warehouse in Cincinnati, OH. This 25,000 square foot warehouse is served by the IORY short-line which is managed by Rail America. The IORY interchanges with NS, CSX, and the Canadian CN railroads.
2008
Commonwealth adds a third warehouse in CA. The new 37,000 square foot warehouse on Maulhardt Avenue was acquired to support the final term of the Pepsi contract warehousing operation.
2010
Commonwealth celebrates 25 years of business.
2011
Commonwealth acquires Hublot 3PL, a warehousing company located in Fairfield, OH whose strength was its value-added service division. This acquisition increases Commonwealth's ability to provide a wide range of value-added services including rework, labeling, ticketing, inspection, and assembly. The former Hublot 3PL warehouse is now listed as Commonwealth's Fairfield Ohio location referred to as Commonwealth North LLC.
